Renovating the external window and door frames of 248 homes

After thirty years, the public-sector rented homes in the Presikhaaf district of Arnhem is ready for renovation. Residents have been complaining about draughts, damp and pest problems for some time now. Volkshuisvesting Arnhem is tackling the major maintenance backlog and has asked Verhoeven Vastgoedverbeteraars to carry out the renovation. On the advice of wood specialist PontMeyer, we joined forces to provide a suitable solution for re-casing the external window and door frames of 248 homes.

Due to the changing demand and development of the market, Wiggers has developed a wide range of high-quality and sustainable products. Verhoeven Vastgoedverbeteraars has specifically requested these sustainable, ready-made profiles. The initial idea was to use a plate and architrave combination. Thanks to our years of experience and expertise, Wiggers recommended a permanent EcoProfiel corner. Why? A plate and architrave consist of two separate parts and installation takes more time. Fixed corners are ethically attractive, easier to process and therefore quicker to install. These profiles offer an additional benefit for the customer: one action less automatically means lower installation costs. 

Process

We are happy to help you with the logistics process. We suggested to Verhoeven Vastgoedverbeteraars to pack all the casing parts in one package. These packages are clearly sorted per home. Wiggers has offered to place a pop-up EcoProfiel warehouse in the district. This multifunctional 'container' is suitable for storing materials and as a workshop. 

Realisation

In mid-August 2019, Wiggers delivered the pop-up container with the first profiles. At present, more than seventy homes have been fitted with fixed EcoProfiel corners. Lars Buschers, field sales representative at Wiggers, regularly visits to monitor the process. It has been found that the renovated homes are not identical to each other. This means that the dimensions are not the same for every frame. To avoid delays, Wiggers, in consultation with the carpenter who processes the work daily, implemented new dimensions; larger fixed EcoProfiel corners were supplied. Every fixed corner can now be cut to size  in the pop-up warehouse. 'Our knowledge and experience give us the opportunity to think ahead. Many problems are tackled as a result and this speeds up the construction process,' says Lars Buschers.
